Privacy Policy

Storied is a personal reading tracker. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Storied app or website, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who runs Storied
Storied is an independent app made by Tim Woods. You can reach me about anything in this policy at tim.woods1@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you create an account and use Storied, we store:
- Account info — your email address (used for sign-in and password reset) and an internal user ID.
- Profile — display name, theme preference, and optional avatar image you upload.
- Reading goals — any annual books, annual pages, daily reading minutes, or daily listening minutes targets you set.
- Books on your shelves — the titles you add, your shelf assignments, your current page or audiobook position, and any custom shelves you create.
- Reading sessions — when each session started and ended, how long it ran, how many pages or minutes you covered, and any paused time.
- Notes and quotes — anything you write down while reading.
- Reviews and ratings— your rating, optional review text, and a flag for whether you've marked the review public.
- Photo uploads — any photos you choose to use as backdrops on share cards. These are stored alongside your account.
What we do with it
- Run the app — your data is what powers your shelves, stats, history, share cards, and account screens.
- Show your reviews to other Storied readers — but only if you explicitly mark a review public. Reviews stay private by default.
- Sync across your devices — sign in on a phone, see the same shelves on web.
We don't use your data for advertising or marketing, we don't share or sell it to third parties, and we don't use it to track you across other apps or websites.
Where it's stored
Storied's backend runs on Supabase. Your data sits in a Supabase database and Supabase Storage, scoped to your authenticated account. Database access is gated by row-level security so other Storied users only see your data when you've explicitly made something public (like a review).
The website (this page included) is hosted on Vercel. Vercel collects anonymous, aggregated analytics about the website — visitor counts and page load speed — to help us tell whether the site is fast and being used. These analytics don't identify you and aren't connected to your Storied account.
When you search for a book, we query OpenLibrary for the title and metadata. Those queries are book searches only — we don't send your account info, email, or reading history to OpenLibrary.
Sharing to social media
When you tap Share inside the app, Storied generates a PNG image of your card and hands it to your device's share sheet. From there it's your choice which app to send it to. We don't see anything that happens after the system share sheet — we don't know which apps you posted to or whether you posted at all.
Your rights
- See your data — everything Storied knows about you is visible inside the app, on your profile, history, and stats screens.
- Edit or delete it — display name, goals, theme, books, sessions, notes, quotes, reviews, and shelves are all editable or deletable from inside the app.
- Delete your account — email tim.woods1@gmail.com from the address tied to your account. We'll permanently delete the account and all data linked to it. (A one-tap in-app delete is on the roadmap.)
Children
Storied isn't designed for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email tim.woods1@gmail.com and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes (adding a new third-party service, expanding what counts as public data, etc.) we'll also notify you in the app.
